Portrait Painting Class, Wednesday 1PM-4PM
This course will cover the nuts and bolts of portrait painting: anatomy, proportion, paint handling technique, value, color and composition. We will work from a different subject each week including: an anatomical model scull, live models, master portraits and your photographs. Our focus will be on finishing a painting in a single sitting. Students will receive a syllabus and materials list October 15.
Classes include demonstration and individual instruction in oil.
Classes meet November 1, 8, 15, 29 (no class Thanksgiving week) December 6, 13, 20 in Providence, RI.
Attendance is flexible, you may reserve your spot and attend as many or as few classes as your schedule allows.
Model sessions are included in the tuition price.
A note about oil painting and toxicity: we do not use solvents such as turpentine or liquin, we thin our paint with linseed oil and clean our brushes with linseed oil, murphy’s oil soap and bar soap.
